The interior of a Sputnik carriage, the last single deck trailer built. The Sputnik cars were produced between 1955-1958 by Commonwealth Engineering in Granville in Western Sydney. The train was given the name due to target plate being assigned the letter 'S', which stood for suburban. The Granville factory closed in 1989 and had since been demolished. The original S set was the first train to have powered doors, all previous train doors were hand-operated (except for one prototype fitted with power-operated doors for trial). There was a total of 80 Sputnik cars built, and they were the last single-deck trains produced for the Sydney service before being phased out in favour of double decks like those that make up the entire fleet in service in Sydney today.
Sputnik is part of the Eveleigh Paint Shop series.
Unframed and Framed Prints. Both options consist of a Giclee fine art print with a white border, printed using Epson UltraChrome HD Ink onto Canson Infinity Rag Photographique 310 GSM, a 100% cotton, museum grade, white fine art and photo paper. Framing comes in a choice of white, black or raw shadow box frames.
Glass prints. Face mounted glass print is the premium option. The image runs all the way to the edge with no border whatsoever. The ultra clear glass really makes the image 'pop'. These prints also feature concealed, easy to install mounts, giving the image the appearance of floating off the wall.
